Spanish Tip

Bajo as a preposition works both as the figurative and literal meaning
of the word 'under'. Ecuador cambió mucho bajo el gobierno de Correa.
Ecuadar changed a great deal under the government Correa.

However, bajo does not mean underneath in the
physical sense. This is often confused with debajo de - which refers to
being physically underneath.
